Grannie's Yeast Type Doughnuts

2 pkgs. yeat
1 c. warm water
1 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
3 c. flour (approx.)

Combine warm water, 1 tsp. sugar and yeast, stir, let stand 5 min. Scald milk, let cool. Cream butter, sugar & salt; add eggs. Sift 3 cups flour into bowl, add yeat & milk. Beat till smooth, add more flour till soft and not sticky. Rise till double in bulk, roll out and cut into shapes. Rise again till almost doubled. Fry at 400F. Drain on paper towels, dust with icing sugar or glaze as desired.

Makes 5 doz. doughnuts.
