Mom's Rice Pudding

1/2 cup short grain rice
3 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
pinch of salt
handful of raisins



 Put all ingredients except raisins in top of double boiler. Bring water below to a slow boil and cook for approximately 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. About 15 minutes before it is done throw in the raisins. When finished stir in a tsp of vanilla and pour into dishes. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
